Minimally invasive procedures drive most of the growth
ISAPS's global survey published in June 2025 for 2024 data recorded roughly 38 million aesthetic procedures worldwide — about 20.5 million non-surgical and 17.4 million surgical. This is the third consecutive year non-surgical volume has exceeded surgical.
That does not mean aesthetic surgery is declining. It reflects new patients entering the market through the minimally invasive door before considering larger interventions.
The GLP-1 wave has created a new patient group
GLP-1 obesity medications have produced a patient group that did not previously exist at this scale: people losing 20–40 kg within a year, left with substantial excess skin. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons recorded more than 800,000 aesthetic patients using these medications in 2024.
For Vietnamese clinics this is an emerging demand group that few practices have built a dedicated consultation pathway for.
Messaging shifts from transformation to refinement
Search behaviour on international review platforms shows a move towards smaller implants, and a preference for PRF, RF microneedling and autologous fat grafting over interventions that change appearance outright.
This has a direct consequence for how a practice builds content: imagery and language centred on "a better version of you" now outperform messages of radical change.
Platforms are displacing magazines in the choice of provider
In South Korea, multilingual aesthetic booking apps — Vietnamese among the languages offered — have become the first touchpoint for international patients, displacing articles and traditional advertising. Patients compare prices, read verified reviews and book in a single app.
